Detik.com, Jakarta - PT PLN Coal Trading has signed a coal supply contract with PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim and PT Indonesia Energi Dinamika on Tuesday (9/5/2023). This collaboration is aimed at supplying coal to the IPP Embalut/Embalut Expansion power plants and the Kaltim4 power plant.

The signing of the coal trading agreement was conducted by Kanapi Subur Dwiyanto, the CEO of PLN Coal Trading, and Daniel Mahendra, the CEO of PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim and PT Indonesia Energi Dinamika. The event was also attended by the owners of PT CFK and PT Indoeka Tirto Sulun, as well as Iwan Agung Firstantara, the CEO of PLN Primary Energy Subholding Indonesia.

PT PLN Coal Trading is a subsidiary of PT PLN Coal. PT PLN Coal, in turn, is a subsidiary of PLN.

During the signing ceremony held at the PLN headquarters on Jalan Trunojoyo, Jakarta, Kanapi Subur Dwiyanto expressed PLN Coal Trading's commitment to meeting the coal needs of all power plants in the country.

To fulfill these needs, PLN Coal Trading will supply 720,000 MT of coal to the IPP Embalut/Embalut Expansion power plants and 1,150,000 MT to the Kaltim4 power plant.

Iwan Agung Firstantara, the CEO of PLN Primary Energy Subholding Indonesia, who was present at the signing of this coal trading agreement, emphasized that coal is one of the core businesses of EPI alongside gas, oil, and biomass.

"This business is not only to meet the needs of both parties, but also to meet the electricity energy needs of the people of our country. Currently, coal is one of the cheapest raw materials for electricity production, which affects electricity tariffs and government subsidies," said Iwan Agung.

The delivery volume to meet PLN Coal Trading's supply to PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim for the IPP Embalut Units 1 & 2 with a capacity of 2 x 30 MW and Expansion (1x60 MW). Additionally, for the IPP Kaltim4 power plant with a capacity of 2 x 110 MW, totaling 220 MW.

PLN Coal Trading's coal delivery reaches 110,000 MT per month, totaling 1.1 million MT annually. The supplied coal is agreed to meet the specifications of Gross Calorific Value (GCV) (kCal/Kg AR) with a standard of 3800 - 4200 kCal/Kg (AR).

The first delivery is planned for May 2023 for the IPP Embalut power plant in Tanjung Batu Village, Tenggarong Seberang, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan.

Daniel Mahendra expressed his honor in being entrusted by EPI to meet the coal needs of PLN Coal Trading.

"Hopefully, with this collaboration, the IPP Embalut/Embalut Expansion and Kaltim4 power plants can meet the energy needs in East Kalimantan, which are crucial for the local community," added Daniel.
