Balikpapan (ANTARA) - PT PLN Coal Trading (PLN BBN), a subsidiary of PT PLN Primary Energy Indonesia (PLN EPI), is supplying coal for the energy needs of three private power plants in Kalimantan and Central Java.
"PLN BBN will supply coal for the needs of PLTU Kaltim 4 (110 MW) totaling 1.1 million metric tons, PLTU IPP Embalut Unit 1, 2 (2X25 MW), and PLTU Embalut Expansion (30 MW) totaling 720 thousand metric tons, with a total coal delivery of 1.8 million metric tons per year," said Kanapi Subur Dwiyanto, CEO of PLN Coal Trading, on Thursday.
He explained that the Embalut Power Plant in Tanjung Batu, not far from the city of Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara, is operated by PT Cahaya Fajar Kaltim (CFK), while PLTU Kaltim 4 is operated by PT Indonesia Energi Dinamika (Indoeka).
Kanapi further stated that the monthly coal requirement for both power plants amounts to 155 thousand metric tons. PLN BBN supplies coal with a calorific value of 3800-4200 kCal per kg (AR).
This initiative aims to ensure the continuity of electricity production in the Mahakam System in Kalimantan, supplying Samarinda, Balikpapan, Tenggarong, and Bontang.
Additionally, PLN BBN will supply coal for PLTU Cilacap Unit 3 (660 MW) and Unit 4 (1000 MW) operated by PT Sumber Segara Primadaya (S2P). PLN BBN will provide 1.6 million metric tons of coal to ensure the continuity of electricity production in the South Java power system.
"This power plant requires 200 thousand metric tons of coal per month. S2P has secured a supply of 1.6 million metric tons for the next year," he added.
Kanapi emphasized that PLN BBN supplies coal with a calorific value of 3800 kCal per kg (AR). The first shipment took place on May 7. PLTU IPP Cilacap 3 and 4 owned by PT S2P will supply electricity to the 500 kilo Volt (kV) Java-Bali power system. These plants are expected to produce 9,700 Giga Watt hours (GWh) of electricity annually.
